Along this road, the tall white poles of the new 380 kV high-voltage connection are clearly visible from Eemshaven. Of all the energy produced in the Netherlands, 1/3 comes from Eemshaven, generated mainly by (offshore) wind power. Via the new connection - which crosses the Fivelingo area - power is transported to other parts of NL. There is no escaping it; the power highway will have quite a scenic impact on this special mound landscape. But, as the positive-minded person notes, "you can also look the other way and enjoy the beautiful landscape that way".
